Zur Zeit besteht die Möglichkeit an einem Projekt zur genomischen Zuchtwertschätzung auf HD bei Spaniels unter der Leitung von Prof. Distl (Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover) teilzunehmen. Dieses Projekt basiert auf einer Studie bei Deutschen Schäferhunden, bei der sich herausstellte, dass die Ausprägung von Hüftgelenksdysplasie bei Schäferhunden nicht durch mehrere Gene erfolgt, sondern durch ein dominantes Hauptgen und einige polygene Komponenten mit wenig Auswirkung. Dies bringt eine Revolution über unsere Auffassung von der Vererbbarkeit von HD und speziell für die weitere Zucht! Vielleicht wird HD bei den Spanielrassen durch die gleichen Gene wie beim Deutschen Schäferhund vererbt, vielleicht gibt es aber auch Unterschiede. Das Projekt wird darüber Auskunft geben und hoffentlich auch unsere Spaniel-Zucht revolutionieren! Wir brauchen Ihre Hilfe! Alles was wir benötigen sind Blutproben von geröngten Spaniels!! Zur Teilnahme wird eine 5 ml-EDTA-Blutprobe Ihres Hundes, eine Kopie der Ahnentafel, die HD-Auswertung und das ausgefüllte Formular benötigt. Bis 2010 brauchen wir insgesamt 200 Blutproben jeder Spanielrasse (speziell ECS, ESS, WSS), deshalb brauchen wir die Unterstützung aller Spaniel- und Spanielrasse-Klubs in Deutschland und im Ausland. It is based on a study about German Shepherds, which shows, that hipdysplasia in G. Shepherds is caused not by several genes, but by one dominant maingene and some polygenetical components with less effect. This brings a revolution into our ideas about the hereditarity of hipdysplasia and especially about breeding! Maybe HD in spaniel-breeds will be caused by the same genes as it is in the G. Shepherd, maybe there will be a difference. The study will show this and hopefully will bring a revolution into our breeding! We do need your help!! All what we need are blood-samples of x-rayed spanies!! At the Jagdspaniel-Klub's homepage you will find more information and the form to take part at the study. All what you have to do is to send a 5 ml EDTA-blood sample of your dog, a copy of it's pedigree, a copy of the evaluated hips and the filled out form of the study. Altogether we do need 200 blood-samples for each Spaniel breed (especially ECS, ESS, WSS) until 2010, therefore we do need the assistance of all spaniel- and special spaniel breed clubs in Germany and abroad!
